Interview with Jeffrey Kippel

Happy Tuesday, y’all! Glad to see you here for a new author interview! Today, we have Jeffrey Kippel! I had a blast getting to know Jeffrey. We quickly learned that we both love superheroes, more importantly Batman and Superman. Jeffrey is one of those people that has the ability to make anyone smile. In fact, I feel like that’s one of his everyday goals. Even through the emails we exchanged, I could feel his positivity. He does an excellent job at relaying that in his writing. Honestly, Jeff makes the world a brighter place. So if you get the chance to meet him, do it. If not, pick up his book and you’ll feel just as happy.

How did your writing career begin?

Well, it began back in my mid teens after reading the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series. I loved it, and was so impressed that I was able to laugh out loud from a book! Once the series was done I wanted to continue the adventure, so I wrote my own! I laughed when I thought of the idea, I laughed again when I wrote it, again when I read it, and when my friends laughed too I know that I found something cool to do!

Do you have a hidden talent?

Playing harmonica… and animal whisperer :)

What book or author changed your life?

That would be Douglas Adams with his book series Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Stephen King too as I read the Shinning when I was 9 and yup, it terrorized me for years!

What is one item you can’t go a day without?

I guess that is either my phone (mini computer) or ipad (bigger computer) lol… it seems like those are items that we are attached to, it keeps us connected and allows the flow of creativity to go somewhere!

When planning a book, do you work on the plot or the characters first?

I tend to go with the flow, and enjoy the story as it is downloading onto the pages.

What is your favorite season?

I like all seasons, however I could give the cold winters a break for a while! Each season though sheds a unique feel and experience and I do my best to embrace it all :)

Where do see yourself as a writer in 10 years?

The The Ridiculous Adventures of Serbinand series right now is planned for a trilogy along with companion books. I also am writing a book on the empowerment side of things to help people truly love better how they think, feel, act, look and dream. So my plan would be to continue creating and inspiring through my books, courses, events and talk shows.

Are you’re a morning person or a night owl?

I used to be a night owl and then my wife and I decided to reset our circadian rhythms and get up early. We did this by focusing on watching the sunrise, and enjoying that experience. So now we go to bed early-ish and get up early too!

What is a writing skill you’d like to improve on?

Editing. Although it is my least favourite part of the process, that is one area that can use some focus.

If you could choose to live in one time period, which would you choose?

If I could choose it would be in middle earth, in the Shire, in the middle of the forest on a lake! Unsure if that is a time period, as it could be happening right now! Lol

Do you feel that the publishing industry can be unfair at times?

I feel it is the marketing side of the industry that is more of a challenge. While 70% of the world’s book sales are on Amazon, it requires very specific skills to master, and they are ever evolving.

Do you have any tips for aspiring authors?

Start… and keep going. Visualize where you want to be and keep that vision alive all the time.

Short Bio:

Helping raise social consciousness with laughter, wellness & empowerment; with my comedy books, as a talk show host & an ambassador for rethinkFIT.
